Brow Lamination Aftercare: Tips for Maintaining Bold Brows

Brow lamination is the perfect solution for taming wild and rebellious brows and giving them a silky, just-groomed appearance. But once the Grinch is gone, you want to maintain your new look for as long as possible.

Lash technicians and lamination lovers, listen up! We’ve got pro tips for brow lamination aftercare right here.

What is Brow Lamination?

Brow lamination is like a perm for your brows, but you get sleek, lifted arches instead of curls.

Lash and brow techs use a chemical solution to soften the hair follicles, lifting and sculpting them into a smoother, more refined shape. The shape then ‘sets,’ and your brows stay perfectly elevated. If you follow the recommended aftercare guidelines, brow lamination typically lasts four to eight weeks.

Brow Lamination Aftercare Tips

Sticking to these brow lamination aftercare tips will help keep your new brows looking ship-shape for longer and prevent skin damage and irritation.

Keep Them Dry

Your newly laminated brows need time to set fully, so avoid getting them wet for the first 24 hours post-treatment. This means no face-washing, no blissful, steamy showers, and definitely no saunas or any other activities that make you sweat. It’s a sacrifice well with it!

Water can strip away the lamination solution, reducing the lifespan of your bold and beautiful brows. You might also find yourself with frizzy brows instead of the well-behaved, silky ones you had when you left the salon.

Hands Off!

As tempting as it may be, avoid brushing or touching your brows immediately after your lamination session. It can interfere with the setting process and upset their shape and texture. Give them time to settle into their new form. Oils from your fingers can also clog the pores.

When you’re back to showering and washing your face, it’s still a good idea to refrain from rubbing your brows. Be gentle and pat them dry instead.

Skip the Makeup for a While

If you feel naked without makeup, this might be a slight challenge for you. However, for the sake of your brushed-up new look, go au naturel for the first few days, at least where your eyebrows are concerned.

Skipping the makeup will allow the lamination product to set properly, preventing skin irritation or discolouration of the brows. The same applies to self-tanning lotions.

Sleep on Your Back

Brow lamination aftercare also requires keeping your distance from foreign objects, like your pillow! Try sleeping on your back for the first night or two after treatment. If you’re a side sleeper, squashing your face into the pillow could bend some of the hairs out of shape. So, place some pillows alongside you to keep you from turning onto your side.

Nourish Those Beauties

Brow lamination involves using chemicals to reshape the hairs, so keeping them moist and nourished is a must. Once the initial period of not getting your brows wet is over, apply a brow serum or nourishing oils, such as castor, argan, avocado, or coconut, to keep them soft and conditioned. This helps maintain the integrity of the hair and prevents it from becoming brittle.

Brush Up On Brow Lamination Aftercare

To keep your brows looking bold and polished, brush them daily with a spoolie brush. This helps maintain that perfect lifted look and ensures they stay in place throughout the day.

Keep Them Cool

Like false lashes, heat and humidity can be the enemy. Stay out of direct sunlight, sunbeds, saunas, and pools for at least 24 hours after your brow lamination. They can cause your brows to fade by breaking down the lamination product in the brow hairs. If you will be in the sun, wear a hat to protect your brows.

Avoid Harsh Products

One of the most important brow lamination aftercare tips is to steer clear of exfoliators, retinol, and strong facial cleansers on your brow area. These products can be too harsh and may shorten the lifespan of your bold and beautiful brows.

Don’t Rush for Touch-Ups

Although rushing back for a touch-up may be tempting, don’t do it! You should wait the recommended six to eight weeks between treatments. Your brows will never look less than gorgeous during that time, so give them a breather until the next lamination treatment.

Over-lamination can damage the hair, leading to breakage and thinning. Part of brow lamination aftercare involves doing nothing! Be patient and enjoy the natural cycle of your brushed-up brows.
