Lash shampoos are simple enough, right? But when you’re choosing which one is right for you and your clients there’s a few things to consider. Let’s break it down!
What is a lash shampoo?
A lash shampoo is an essential product for lash techs, formulated specifically for eyelash extensions.
Like the name suggests, it’s a product used to keep the lashes squeaky clean and free from a build up of oil, dirt, makeup and skincare. Basically any impurities that naturally build up in your lashes on a day-to-day basis - a lash shampoo will cleanse them, leaving your lash extensions perfectly clean without breaking down the adhesive!
A lash shampoo is required for all lash extension clients to protect eye health and prevent infections such as blepharitis caused by a build up of bacteria, and to promote the very best retention. Every lash tech will have a lash shampoo they swear by, and it’s all down to your lashing style.
How to use a lash shampoo
Lash shampoo is designed to be really simple to use and it only takes a few minutes from your day (no one wants to be spending more than 5 minutes cleansing the lashes in an appointment!).
Ideally, your client should be cleaning their lash extensions daily to keep the lashes clean and intact… but as we know… not enough clients do this! Chances are, you’ll probably need to do a lash cleanse before an application (and it’s best practice to do so!)

Take the lash cleanser and use one pump directly onto a cleansing brush.

If you’re using a cream-style cleanser, you may want to apply the cleanser directly to the eye area (always make sure your client’s eyes are closed!)

Using soft circular motions, massage the cleanser into the lashes with the eye closed, focusing on the lash line.

Rinse the lashes using normal water, let them air dry (you can use a lash fan to quicken this!) and brush back into place using a spoolie.

What is a lash bath?
A lash bath is the cleansing routine where we use a lash cleanser to clean the lash extensions, this can be done at home or at your lash appointment to free the lashes from oils and build up of dirt. (Using exactly the process we described above!)
Foaming lash cleanser vs. Whipped mousse lash shampoo
At BELO, we have two lash shampoos in different formulas: foaming and cream. The main difference between the two cleansers is the consistency.
Whipped dream lash shampoo is a thick, creamier formula that’s in a fun 100ml whipped cream-like dispenser. You only need a small amount when cleansing the lashes and it lasts between 20-30 lash cleanses!

Lash lather foaming lash cleanser is our OG lash cleanser! It is a more lightweight, foaming formula and super quick to use. This cleanser leaves no residue and is great for convenience. The bottle is a usual pump dispenser and comes in 60ml. (Which makes it a great retail option for clients!)

Best cleanser for sensitive eyes
Both our whipped dream and lash lather are suitable for clients with sensitive eyes! As long as the eye is kept shut during the lash bath, and rinsed away properly with water either cleanser can be used.
