Lash techs, let's be honest - what’s the worst message a lash technician can receive?
It has to be the dreaded 'hey girl…' - followed by a problem with a client’s lashes.
Since the Korean lash lift went viral, lash lifts have surged in popularity, with many clients switching from lash extensions to lash lifts for a more natural, low-maintenance look. Like all beauty treatments, lash lifts aren’t without risk, and lash lift mistakes can happen, even when completed by experienced technicians.
One of the most common lash lift issues is either no lift at all or the opposite problem: over-curled lashes. The good news? If lashes are over-curled, the fix is relatively simple when done correctly and safely and in this blog, we'll look into how to reverse a lash lift.
Important Before You Begin
After correcting over-curled lashes, wait 6–8 weeks before performing another lash lift. This allows the natural lashes time to recover and helps prevent long-term damage.
Step-by-Step Guide: How to Reverse Over-Curled Lash Lifts
Step 1: Protect the Lower Lashes
Apply under-eye pads, ensuring no bottom lashes are peeking through. This prevents accidental processing of the lower lashes.
Step 2: Reapply Step 1 Solution
Using a lash micro brush, gently comb Step 1 solution back through the lashes.
Continuously comb for 1–3 minutes only, timing is critical. Do not leave the solution on for even a second longer than necessary.
You’ll know it’s ready when the lashes begin to straighten out.
Step 3: Remove Step 1 Thoroughly
Carefully remove Step 1, ensuring no product residue is left on the lashes.
Step 4: Re-Lift Using Correct Shield Size
Apply your chosen lash lift shield, making sure this time the correct size is selected to avoid over-curling again. Apply Step 2 solution, fully coating the lashes.
Leave it on for approximately 1 minute less than Step 1 was processed.
Step 5: Cleanse the Lashes
Once Step 2 is removed, cleanse the lashes thoroughly using a professional lash cleanser like our Whipped Dream or Lash Lather.
