Most Korean lash lift formulations currently on the market use a HCl-Cysteamine blend as opposed to a pure cysteamine formula. And that got us thinking…
We know cysteamine offers a gentler lash lift as opposed to traditional TGA systems. So why do we still use blends?
If you haven’t heard by now, we’re launching a brand new Korean lash lift system: ELEVA.
A pure cysteamine lash lifting formula that will revolutionise lash lifting as we know it!
This blog will explain exactly why we spend the extra time, effort (and budget!) to bring an entirely new system into our range and create the perfect pure cysteamine product for you to fall in love with.
So what is the main difference between pure cysteamine and HCl-Cysteamine?
Cysteamine HCL is cysteamine bound with hydrochloric acid, making it an ionised salt formula. Pure cysteamine is non-ionised, an unbonded active form of the amino thiol molecule, often referred to as “cysteamine free”. This does not mean free of pure cysteamine, but free of cysteamine HCL (we know, it’s a bit confusing!)
Cysteamine HCl
- With hydrochloride salt
- Requires acidic environment and harsher
- PH adjusters to function.
- Slower acting as a reducing agent and usually requires extra stabilisers.
- May need glue balm or lash lift adhesives.
- More demanding on the natural lash.
- Established and widely used.
ELEVA Pure Cysteamine: the benefits
- Without hydrochloride salt
- Operates at a higher, more alkaline PH.
- More reactive and faster acting. Allowing for shorter processing times.
- Glueless system.
- Designed to be more gentle and considerate of the natural lash.
- Next generation approach focused on cleaner chemistry, gentle processing and lash health.
