How To Clean Your Lash Lift Shields

How To Clean Your Lash Lift Shields

Keeping your tools and equipment, including your lash lift shields, sanitary and hygienic between clients should always be a top priority. Properly cleaning lash lift shields not only protects the health and safety of your clients, but also helps extend the lifespan of your tools.

When cared for correctly, our BELO Lash glueless shield collection can be reused time and time again, making them both a hygienic and cost-effective choice for professional lash artists.

How To Clean Your Lash Lift Shields

Step 1: Cleaning your lash lift shields

After each treatment, begin by thoroughly cleaning the shields to remove product residue. You don't need any fancy tools for this, just a wipe to get the excess product residue off, as you're going to deep clean them anyway.

  1. Soak the shields in warm water with antibacterial soap: this will break down any remaining lifting or setting product on the shield after your initial clean.
  2. Rinse thoroughly with warm water: you don't want there to be any soap residue remaining on the shields as this may not be removed with sanitiser and could impact your future lash lifts.
  3. Allow the shields to air dry naturally: Your lash lift shields must be completely dry before moving onto the disinfection stage to ensure proper sanitation as some bacteria can move in water.

Step 2: Disinfecting your lash lift shields

Once fully dry, the shields can be disinfected. This is a crucial step between treatments as you must ensure every client receives a safe and sanitary lash lift treatment.

  1. Soak the shields in sanitising solution: use either a 0.5–3% hydrogen peroxide solution or 70% alcohol to disinfect your lash lift shields. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions regarding dilution ratios and recommended soaking times to ensure effective disinfection.
  2. Rinse the shields again: once your shields are disinfected, you'll need to rinse them using warm water only to remove the sanitiser. This is important as the harsh sanitiser solution (even when diluted) should not come into contact with the eye area.
  3. Leave the shields to air dry: once your shield have been rinsed effectively, allow them to air dry fully before storing them in a clean, covered container, ready for use on future clients.
