How to Secure Lashes to the Shield During a Lash Lift

Having trouble getting the lashes to stick just right during a lash lift? We’ve all been there. The way your lashes sit on the shield can completely change your end result, so here’s your fool-proof guide to getting them perfectly placed every time.

Step 1: Use a Glue Balm Instead of Traditional Lash Adhesive

A lash lift glue balm works slightly differently to a standard lash lift adhesive. It doesn’t require the same drying time, meaning the lashes go up and stay up more easily.
Its thick, flexible consistency gives you more time to manipulate, isolate, and perfect lash placement once the lashes are fixed onto the shield.

Pro tip: Our Worlds Above Glue Balm simplifies the lash lift process, making lash attachment smooth and stress-free.

Step 2: Don’t Stick to One Tool - Experiment with Different Options

Every client’s natural lashes are unique, so your tools should be too. While some lash techs swear by metal lash lifting tools, like our Worlds Above Tool, whilst others prefer micro brushes or Y-combs. Try using:

  • Micro brushes (great for initially pushing up lashes, and they’re disposable!)

  • Metal lifting tools

  • Y-comb

  • Fine lash combs

Our Worlds Above Lifting Tool combines both a lifting side and a comb side for total control and precision. We now also have Y-combs in our collection.

Step 3: Focus on Getting Lashes Up First, Then Perfect the Placement

When using a glue balm, you have more flexibility and time to perfect lash placement. Don’t panic if they don’t look perfect right away,  focus on securing the lashes first, then refine how they sit on the shield.

Step 4: Perfect Isolation and Alignment

Once all lashes are secured, take your time to comb, separate, and isolate. How the lashes look on the shield before Step 2 is applied will determine the final lift results.
Use your favourite tools to make sure every lash is in the right place - neat, isolated, and perfectly aligned.

Step 5: Tame Stubborn Lashes

If some lashes refuse to stay attached, don’t stress! Simply apply a thin extra layer of glue balm and gently work the lashes back into position. You can also use compensators or paper lift sheets to help keep the lashes secure against the shield while the balm sets.

The Takeaway

Mastering lash attachment takes practice, patience, and the right products. Using a high-quality glue balm like our Worlds Above one and a mix of tools will transform your lash lift results, making the process quicker, cleaner, and more consistent every time.
